Have you ever been homesick? Maybe it was when you went away to college or were on deployment. Perhaps it was a long business trip or an extended vacation. We miss home because that’s where we feel comfortable and safe. It’s a place where we can let our guard down and get some rest. It’s where you’re surrounded by family and things just feel right. It’s not easy being away from home.
In a sense, you’re away from home right now. Heaven is the home of all believers, and if your reading this you’re not there. That’s probably why you feel homesick. Living in a sin-cursed world with a sin-sick body can leave you longing for a place that is far more comfortable. Fights with temptation and attacks from the devil can find you yearning for a place to finally put your guard down. It’s not easy being away from home.
Take heart dear, Christian. Your time away from home is only temporary, but when you’re home you’ll be there forever. Let the promise of your future give you strength for today. One day you will be surrounded by family and everything won’t just feel right. It will be right. There’s no place like home.
