Power In Weakness

Power in Weakness

Who survives the tornado?  The strong man standing in the field or the child sleeping in the storm shelter?
Who safely crosses the ocean?  The world champion swimmer or the paraplegic in the lifeboat?
Who makes it through the maze?  The woman with 20/20 vision or the one with glasses holding the map?

I hope you see the point.  Sometime strength can make you think you don’t need a shelter. That’s life-threatening. Sometimes an incredible talent makes you think you can go it alone. That’s unsafe. Sometimes knowing so much keeps you from looking at the map. That’s dangerous.
Weaknesses aren’t fun but they can be good for you.  They teach you some very important things that are easy to forget.  You aren’t as perfect as you think you are. You aren’t as self-sufficient as you want to be. You aren’t strong enough to handle this life alone. You need something and always will.

The good news is that God has given you exactly what you need.   His gift of grace is a shelter for every storm.  His forgiveness in Jesus is the lifeboat that will carry you home.  His powerful Word is the only road map you need.

Don’t let your strengths make you forget how weak you are.  Let your weaknesses show you how strong God is.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:6
