Keep Walking

Keep Walking

When the Holy Spirit did his amazing work of bringing you to faith in Jesus, he placed you on a path to paradise.  Jesus’ blood and righteousness is the only way to heaven, but sometimes God changes the scenery as you walk. It’s one of the things that make’s life interesting.

Think of all God has allowed you to see on your walk home to heaven.  There are places you’d love to go back and visit. That special birthday party or that one incredible vacation.  The day you got your driver’s license or the moment you met your spouse. When your diploma was signed, or your kids were born.

There are scenes you never want to see again too. When you lost your job or when she scarred your heart. The day you heard the news, or you lost the loved one. When the divorce papers were signed, or the kids left home.

If you were allowed to go back and visit both the good and the bad times of your walk, you’d find they all have something in common.  God’s goodness and love were present every step of the way, leading and guiding you, protecting and strengthening your heart.  Maybe they weren’t evident at the time, but they were most definitely there because your Shepherd was there. His goodness and mercy have brought you safe thus far and they will lead you home.

What does the scenery look like for you right now? I hope its bright and filled with joy and happiness but maybe its darkened with sadness and anxiety.  It’s possible it could turn from one to the other tomorrow. I don’t know, but I do know wherever you are, whatever you are experiencing, God’s goodness and love are there with you.  I pray you see them now, but maybe you don’t. That’s okay.  One day, when your finally home, you’ll realize they were there all along.

Keep walking, dear friend, through the good and the bad.  One foot in front of the other, just keep walking.  His goodness and love will follow you every step of the way.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life – Psalm 23:6a
