He Knows

It was all that people were talking about.  The world seemed to be crumbling.  People didn’t know if they should fight or cry.  If they should speak up or just shut up.  Life wasn’t the way it used to be and definitely not the way it was supposed to be. Homes were broken, people were hurt.
They wondered if they would even survive as a nation.  It was all very, very sad.

What they needed was a leader to step up and set things straight.  Someone who had a plan and the ability to carry it out.  Someone with enough love to make a promise and enough power to keep it.  They needed to know that someone was in control in the midst of the turmoil and that the future would be a good one.  If they knew that…they could keep going.  If they knew they had a good future with peace and prosperity, then they could face each day with strength and hope.
When the nation of Israel went into exile at the hand of the Babylonians, life wasn’t just difficult, it was devastating. What those people needed most is exactly what they received— a promise from someone they could trust, that was good as gold and as real as their problems.

I don’t know if you are fighting or crying, speaking up or shutting up. I know life is not like it used to be nor is it the way you wanted it to be.  Homes are broken, people are hurting and you may be wondering if we will even survive. But what you need today is exactly what you will receive—a promise from someone you can trust, that is good as gold and as real as your problems.
 The same promise God spoke over 25 centuries ago.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11
