A Light For Your Path

I have a horrible sense of direction.  No, I am serious…it’s really bad. When I was in high school, I visited my grandparents in the small town of Jefferson, WI for the weekend.  It’s home to less than 8,000 people who live within 6 square miles.   20 minutes into a walk, I had to ask for directions to get back to their house before dinner.

Navigating a small town is one thing but navigating life is another.  I don’t care how great a sense of direction you have, it’s not easy finding your way through the guilt of the past and the stress of the present.  Add on top of that the worry and concern of the future and you’re bound to lose your way.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could open our navigation app and have Siri or Alexa tell us how to get through life? Well we can do even better.  We can open a book and listen to God tell us the way.

Over approximately 1,500 years through 40 different authors living at different times and places, God gave you exactly what you need to navigate this life.  Even though God used human beings to write it, the Bible is no less that the inspired Word of God, the light to show you the way.  In his Word, he shows the way to sort through your past, move through your present, and arrive at your future.

His Word lights the way to the cross where you’ll see his death did away with your guilt.  His Word takes you to the empty tomb to prove he’s alive and in control of all that is stressing you. That same Word will show you the way to his throne in heaven where you see him ruling all things and preparing a place for you. The past is forgiven, the present is protected, and a bright future is promised.

You might feel lost, but with your eyes looking to his Word and your ears attentive to his voice, God has you right where you need to be.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. – Psalm 119:105
